Empower Federal Credit Union Amphitheater at Lakeview
The moment that you're so sick of love songs at this concert, will be exactly when these two will jump into the party scene! Ne-Yo & Akon come to the Lakeview Amphitheater on Saturday, August 1st. We're lucky here in Syracuse; some of the other stops on the Nights Like This Tour are taking place in the middle of the week! Could you imagine having to get up for work after experiencing the live rendition of "Work Hard Play Hard"?
Luckily, you'll have Sunday to make sure you can cope with the effects of this night, which promises to be epic. Both Akon and Ne-Yo offer some love songs that will likely start us out this evening. However, as the sun starts to set, the DJs will likely come out, and it's going to turn into an early 2010s party. This is one of those tours where, at one point, at a party or in the club, a friend once mentioned, as if Akon and Ne-Yo put on a show together, it would be amazing. When you think about it, and you start going down the line of the songs that they could particularly work with a DJ setting the beat, it just makes sense. The only "scary" element to this concert is that a lot of these songs were playing when you were doing shots at the bar with that same friend who's probably the one pushing you to be at this concert inside the Lakeview Amphitheater. As David Guetta would say, this performance is going to bring back a ton of "Memories."
Nothing is really set in stone when it comes to this concert. At least not at the time of writing. The tour has yet to start, so at this point, there are prop bets running on the potential setlist. There are just so many different directions that they could take this show. Ne-Yo's got maybe a heavier R&B music library, with songs like "So Sick" and "Miss Independent." With Akon, even "Lonely" or "Locked Up" have a club version. You gotta believe they'll start slow and build up to speaker-busting tracks as the night progresses. Oh, and yeah, about those surprises, there's a reason David Guetta got a mention in the last paragraph, we'll leave it that!
The "main party," if you want to call it that, is going to be at the front of the theater. It's going to feel like you're at the club, but you've got Akon and Ne-Yo within reach. That's a feeling that's hard to beat. Now, it's also true that if you were partying heavily in the 2000s to 2010s, you might be looking for a place to sit down from time to time in 2026. There's no shame in that! Locate a spot toward the center of the Lakeview Amphitheater that gives you a broad view of everything that's going on. You can still have a blast from there.
