About the New Album

Prizefighter is a record that saw the band experience great growth. While they might have seemed to be the type to take everything seriously, the band members actually found comfort and inspiration by letting loose. Discovering new dynamics and taking these newfound inspirations into writing, we arrived at a record that's pretty much one of their best out there.

"We were just like ‘Fuck it!" Marcus shared via Hot Press. "It’s exactly the kind of choice we would have made in 2009. I want to take the art seriously, but we’ve got to take ourselves slightly less seriously."

Free from second-guessing and simply going with the flow of their ideas, it's an album crafted purely by heart. The band shared how much their relationship with each other had improved, and it definitely seems like they bonded well over "Prizefighter".

"It was a more instinctive record than we’ve made for a long time... we didn’t second-guess our gut choices along the way," Marcus added.

Embracing their own space and creativity, every member's work powerfully shines, and of course—their collaborative efforts with the likes of Gigi Perez, Gracie Abrams, Hozier, and Chris Stapleton are sure-fire hits. Learning plenty of things from each other and with fellow artists, it all comes from a place of inspiration. Seeing these stars' rapid rise in music made them realize new things about the kind of music they wanted to make.

"So it just feels like a natural thing for us to do, to celebrate the music that we love, and introduce our audience to that – and just be real about what we like," Marcus told Hot Press.

Through the Years

Formed in 2007, named after Marcus Mumford, the band's name was intended to give off that "antiquated family business name" vibe. Becoming one of the prominent bands onf what would be the "West London folk scene", Mumford & Sons later emphasized that it's actually a community rather than just a "scene". With indie-rock tunes blended with folk notes, they won everyone's hearts with their foot-stomping music with earnest and relatable lyrics. On stage, these energies into wild nights with their fans.

From their breakthrough debut with "Sigh No More" as "Little Lion Man" struck hard, these folk rockers defied odds with folk tunes in a scene dominated by synth-pop and indie-rock bangers. Setting themselves apart, their banjos and kick drums won hearts with their infectious choruses.

Scoring several Billboard Music Awards, Brit Awards, an Echo Music Prize, Americana Music Honors & Awards, and more, their was was truly amazing.

It's time to rock out as Mumford & Sons kick off the Prizefighter Tour. Book those tickets now!
